SPP Driving School Manual & Automatic Driving Lessons

SPP Driving School – Terms & Conditions
For instructor & learner

These Terms & Conditions are based on the “Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors”.

It is important that every pupil reads and understands them and seeks clarification if they have any questions or concerns.

Please Note!

That by Pre Booking or Booking and Paying for any type of lesson/ course with an SPP Instructor will automatically bind you to these T&C.

Driving License

Pupils must ensure that they are holders of a valid current Driving License. Eye sight test will be undertaken.

It is the pupil’s responsibility to wear their spectacles or contact lenses if they are required.

SPP Driving School must be informed of any points, endorsement, bans, convictions or restrictions of any kind on pupils’ licenses.

Fitness to drive

It is the pupil’s responsibility to ensure that they are fit to drive and he/she must inform us of any medical condition, disability or injury that may affect their ability or entitlement to drive.

Pupils must ensure that they do not drive whilst under the influence of drink or drugs – some medication drugs like hay fever remedies may cause drowsiness.

Pupils must ensure that they do not book driving lessons at a time that they are likely to be tired, stressed or otherwise distracted.

In the interests of comfort and safety, pupils are strongly advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear for their lessons.

Foul or abusive language will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of a lesson and forfeiture of monies paid.

Postponement of Lessons by the Pupil

At least 48 hours notice is required for cancellation or postponement of a lesson. Lessons canceled with less than 48 hours notice must be paid for.

Any intensive course canceled with more than 7 days notice will be subject to a £50 administration fee. Payment will be lost for any intensive course canceled with 7 days or less notice.

Lateness and Missed Lessons

Please be ready at the agreed collection point at your scheduled lesson start time. If you are running late, contact your instructor as soon as possible. Your instructor will wait for up to 15 minutes after the agreed start time. If you have not arrived or agreed alternative arrangements within this time, the lesson will be treated as a no-show and charged in accordance with the cancellation policy. If you arrive late and the lesson goes ahead, it will normally finish at the original agreed time, and the full lesson fee will remain payable. This helps prevent delays to other students’ lessons scheduled that day.

Postponement of Lessons by the Instructor

If, due to vehicle breakdown or other emergency, a lesson has to be postponed at short notice, an alternative lesson will be paid by mutual consent. In the case of a driving test, the instructor will be responsible for any lost test fees.

Driving tests take priority over lessons. A lesson booked may have to be rearranged if the instructor receives late notice of a test at approximately the same time.

The driving instructor will make every effort to be punctual but traffic conditions sometimes make this impossible. If a lesson needs to start 10 minutes late, it will end late accordingly.

Driving Tests

In the interests of road safety, the right is reserved to withdraw use of a car for test use to pupils not deemed to be at test standard. In most circumstances, use of the vehicle will be dependent upon passing a mock driving test marked to the same standards as the DSA Practical Test.

Driving tests should not be booked without first checking the availability of the instructor and car.

SPP Driving School has no control over driving tests canceled by the DVSA, however, pupils may be able to claim a refund of lessons fees from the DVSA when tests are canceled at short notice.

Use of instructors car - Min of 2.5 hours are required on test day with your driving instructor.

Lesson Payments

All lessons must be paid for in advance of the agreed lesson date and time. Payments may be made by bank transfer, PayPal or cash. Please check your instructor’s accepted payment methods before paying.

We recommend paying by bank transfer to your instructor’s designated business account, as this provides a digital record that can be used as proof of payment.

Your instructor will send a booking confirmation once payment has been received. Late payment may result in your lesson being rescheduled.

Block bookings and intensive courses must be paid for in full before the booking is confirmed. Once payment has been received, your instructor will send confirmation of your payment and booking, along with any additional details.

Pay-as-you-go lessons must also be paid for in advance, by the deadline agreed with your instructor.

Failure to pay by the agreed deadline may result in your lesson being cancelled. Any applicable cancellation charge will be applied in accordance with the cancellation policy.

All outstanding fees and charges must be paid before further lessons can be booked.

Pausing Lessons and Retaining Your Place

Your instructor will make every reasonable effort to keep your regular lesson slot available if you need to pause your lessons. However, a place cannot be held indefinitely.

It is your responsibility to stay in contact with your instructor and arrange your lessons. Unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing, if you have not attended a lesson or agreed a date to resume within 4 weeks of your last lesson, your instructor will contact you and give you a further 7 days to respond and agree arrangements. If no arrangements are agreed within that time, your place may be offered to another student.

Any unused prepaid balance can be refunded after deducting any fair cancellation/ no show charges or reasonable losses directly resulting from missed lessons or your cancellation. Deductions will take account of costs saved and replacement bookings, and the same loss will not be charged twice. Your instructor will provide a breakdown of any deductions.

Please tell your instructor as soon as possible if illness or other circumstances affect your ability to continue, so that alternative arrangements can be discussed. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Please Note!

All payments are made directly to your Instructor and not to the business. SPP Driving School will not take/ ask for any payments or take any responsibility for the handling of any lesson payments made by the student/ client to the instructor.

SPP Driving School is not responsible for any refunds or reimbursement requested by the student/ client. This will be dealt with by the Instructor directly.
